The Action is located in the Core airport of Venice at 12 km North-East of the city. The current connection between the city and the airport is by road and water.
The Action has delivered a final design study for a railway link to the airport. The Action has developed the final design of the “loop” solution which will provide a “through” link, with a new underground train station at the airport (Venezia Tessera Airport). The new rail link will have 12.3 km length out of which 4 km underground.
The Action is part of a Global Project concerning the connections of airports to the network in accordance with the National Airports Plan. It will provide benefits in terms of an increased catchment area, contributing in particular to tourism, and promotion of modal shift.
