The Action will enhance the capacity of the Toulouse urban node, responding to increasing demands for long distance transport and high capacity for both regional and local traffic. The Action is part of a Global Project providing the Toulouse metropolitan area with a 28 km new metro line, which will complete the existing network and promote modal shift from road towards alternative modes. It consists of the preliminary studies that will lead to the final approval of the project and its construction.
The Action addresses the following objectives:
– Improving the interconnection of long distance modes of transport (national/TEN-T) and optimising regional and local traffic on the Toulouse urban node;
– Enhancing coverage of the major economic clusters, for which current accessibility is restricted by saturated highway and public transport networks;
– Responding to strong growth in demand for travel expected by 2025.
