Stakeholders involved: PORT AUTONOME DE PARIS (France) (coordinator)

An Economic Interest Group (EIG) comprising the ports of Le Havre, Rouen and Paris (HAROPA), seeks to develop a coherent port network on the Seine axis. The Global project aims to develop transport infrastructure by means of new ports within those Core Network nodes able to resolve Paris Region’s congestion problems.
The 2 ports located some 40 km downstream from Paris, on the outskirts of the congestion area, are designed to meet the needs of Paris Region and more particularly of Greater Paris (extension of Metro lines, construction of new housing etc) by providing a base for all materials to be dispatched and returned for recycling via inland waterways. They will also help develop local activities and reduce the population density within the congestion area.
The Action consists in planning studies for the development of the following two inland ports:
• Port Seine-Métropole Ouest: 100 ha fronting the Seine-Oise confluence, designed to develop a circular economy around a water-rail-road hub for construction and infrastructure projects.
• The “2 Rives de Seine” Eco Port: 34 ha mainly around Triel-sur-Seine. This supports the economic development of the public works-oriented Chanteloup loop as a cluster within a local development zone focusing on eco-construction and eco materials activity.
