Step 2

Focus Cities

The preliminary Vital Nodes approach will be further applied and fine-tuned in eight urban nodes.

In this phase, Vital Nodes conducts a one day workshops in each of the eight nodes, attendants will include representatives of multimodal hubs, (multimodal) freight and logistic operators, port authorities, infrastructure providers, spatial and urban planners and financiers. Among other results, the workshops are expected to fine-tune the toolbox with the focus on linking long-distance transport and last-mile freight logistics. The workshops will also produce a detailed fingerprint of each of the urban nodes, analysing existing and coming practices and challenges, integration issues, chances and barriers (including funding needs and instruments).
